World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War

The next book on the list for discussion is World War Z by Max Brooks. I'm being a little proactive with this one, and I can tell you, its very good. A very easy and thought provoking read. Not to mention, who doesn't like zombies? So, we are reading this for next weeks discussion. If you would like to find a copy of the book and join in, well be meeting on the chat page June 12th, at 10pm EST. As usual, if this time doesn't work for you, please send me an email so I can make arrangements. We want as many people in on this one as possible.

On a side note, I'm considering adding a few other little things to the blog. Perhaps we'll do a questions page for the books, something pertaining to the book that is currently up for discussion. I'm also thinking about a FAQ for our reviewers (HINT: We could still use some more reviewers, so if you're interested in writing a few for the blog about books you've been reading, just shoot me an email!). June Books Are Up!

If you're interested in getting in on the next couple discussions that will take place in June, you should head over to the book list page and see what we'll be reading! Remember, you'll have 2 weeks to read each book and the discussion time will take place on the chat page at the time stated. Again, if the time does not work for you, don't hesitate in sending me an email to let me know when would work better for you. As usual, I will try to accomadate everyone!

Next Discussion - Cost

Okay, if you are interested in getting in on the next discussion, the book we are reading right now is Cost by Roxana Robinson. This book comes with an interview of Robinson and a list of discussion questions. Perfect for the book club. It may also give us some ideas for future discussions.

As we did with Nineteen Eighty Four, discussion will take place next Sunday night at 10 PM EST. That means 10 pm on the East coast and 7 pm on the west coast. It should last about an hour. Again, if you would like to join in but the time is inconvienent, please send me an email and let me know what would work better for you. I'm really looking forward to this!

A Quick Reminder

The first book coming up for discussion will be Nineteen Eighty Four by George Orwell. The time for discussion will be 9 pm CST, Sunday May 15. If you would like to participate, please have the book read by this time and show up at chat (you'll find that under the chat tab at the top) at the discussion time. You do not need to be a member or a follower (though I wouldn't mind if you were...) to join chat.

I would really love to see a lot of people there. Discussion should take about an hour, though it could last longer.

As I mentioned on the book list page, if you would like to join chat, but the time does not work well for you, please email me with a time and date that would work better for you. I will do my best to make sure as many people can join as possible.

Getting Things Ready

Hey, everyone! So, I've decided I need to join a book club. I have never been a part of one, but always wanted to. Unfortunately, I'm not very outgoing and I hardly have any time to get away from the munchkins. My solution was to make an online book club. Things are going to take a little while for me to get them set up (including getting a chatroom going), but the plan of events goes a little something like this: get a list of books, find some people who want to read them and discuss them, read books, discuss books, etc.

The other thing I would like to do is book reviews. This is where things go and get a little sketchy for me. I'm not really sure how to go about doing guest posts for those who would like to submit a review, but I'm sure someone will enlighten me along the way.

So, without futher ado, welcome to the blog. If you would like to participate in the book club, feel free. By no means do you need to read everybook that will find its way onto the list, or be a part of every discussion. But I'd love to have you here, and your input!
